Stop Motion Workshop at Muswellbrook Library

Do you love stop-motion animation films like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Wallace and Gromit? Ever wondered how to make your own?

Take full control of your animation storytelling experience as we guide you step-by-step through learning the animation fundamentals, worldbuilding and designing characters. Take home your own animation, bringing ordinary objects to life and making them do the impossible with the magic of stop-motion.

Join our award-winning VIVID Sydney animators, Jelena Sinik and Nicolette Axiak, as we bring together an array of skills and experience in education and industry, sharing insights into the enchanting world of visual storytelling.

We have two interactive sessions at Muswellbrook Library on Wednesday July 9!

This inclusive activity is open for children aged 5-13. Please contact our Muswellbrook Branch if you would like to discuss any supports for your family prior to attending. All children under the age of 13 must be supervised by a parent or carer at all times.

About our Animators

About Jelena Sinik

Jelena Sinik is an award-winning animation director from Sydney’s Eastern beaches. Jelena completed a Master of Animation at the University of Technology Sydney, prior to which she graduated a Bachelor of Media (Screen and Sound) degree at the University of New South Wales in 2014. Most recently, Jelena worked as a 2D animator on the Nine Network television broadcast of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and the Sydney Opera House projection show for Vivid Sydney 2023, bringing John Olsen’s paintings to life. Jelena is a lecturer at the UNSW School of the Arts & Media and is passionate about teaching young people to express themselves.

About Nicolette Axiak

Nicolette graduated from the University of Technology Sydney with a Master of Design (majoring in Animation). Around this time, she met Jelena where their friendship sparked an array of exciting collaborations including the 2023 Sydney Opera House Vivid projection as well as various award-winning short films. Many of these digital works have been exhibited in cross-platform installations, presented in gallery spaces. Nicolette has worked as an educator in primary schools where she shared her passion for storytelling and imagining new worlds with the children, encouraging them to explore their own creativity.
