Rising Readers: 1,000 Books Before School
One thousand books? That seems like way too many, right? Not at all. You’ve got this! It doesn’t matter if your child is three, or just three months – there’s no better time to start than now!
Reading helps build social and emotional skills, sparks creativity and imagination, promotes bonding, and helps kids do well overall in school. Take that motivation, open one book, and get started. And remember, 1000 is just a number. The goal is to work reading aloud into your regular routine, and let the magic of stories do the rest.
How does it work?
Download the Beanstack app to your phone or tablet or visit our Beanstack site and register for an account using your Muswellbrook Shire Libraries membership. Once registered, you can log your books or activities to earn digital badges! Each month we will recognise our Rising Readers with a prize draw in the last week of each month for those readers who have logged books or activities during the month.
Members without access to digital devices can request a physical tally sheet for Muswellbrook or Denman Branches.
What is Beanstack?
Beanstack is a free online service that offers an innovative new way to connect readers of all ages with books and engaging reading activities and challenges that match each person’s interests, ages and all reading levels. It includes book and activity logging, badges and registration for all members of the family under one account. Parents can also create accounts just for their children.
