This month Muswellbrook and Denman Libraries have a range of activities for all ages, including celebrating Book Week, Library and Information Week and much more! Be sure to check out what’s on below and contact your local branch for more information.

Our activities are inclusive. Please contact Muswellbrook or Denman library if you would like to discuss any supports for your family prior to attending.

Community Survey 

Want to help shape future Library programs and events? Muswellbrook Shire Libraries is seeking community feedback to gather information about the accessibility of our Library events and programs.

This Community survey is open to all Muswellbrook Shire residents as well as those who work or study within the Shire. All survey responses are anonymous and data will be kept confidential.

This survey will close on the 16th August. Contact Muswellbrook Library for information on 6543 1913.

Library and Information Week
July 29 – August 4

This is the week where we celebrate the work that Library and information workers do all around Australia.
Every year, Libraries and information services throughout Australia showcase their resources and services to their communities, through programs and events. Whether it’s a Library in your school, community, university, hospitals, cultural or law institutions, this week is an opportunity to learn more about what they do and the important roles they play in our local community, work and personal lives.

Reading is Magic: Book Week
August 17 – August 23

Each year since 1945 the Children’s Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together across Australia through Children’s Book Week®. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children’s authors and illustrators.

WHAT’S ON FOR CHILDREN

STORY TIME AND BABY RHYME TIME

Join us weekly at our story time and rhyme sessions filled with stories, song and creativity.

MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY’S SESSIONS

Baby Rhyme Time: Monday mornings at 10:00AM – 10:45AM

Story Time and Craft: Thursday mornings at 10:00AM – 11:00AM

STEM Story Time: The third Thursday of the month from 10:00AM-11:00AM

DENMAN LIBRARY’S SESSIONS

Rhyme Time sessions will run weekly on Mondays from 10:00AM.

LEGO CLUB

Join in on Lego building challenges that will make you think outside the box and push your building skills to the limit. Bookings are essential.

MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY’S SESSIONS

Muswellbrook Library’s Lego Club is held on the first and third Mondays of each month.
Monday, August 5 and 19 from 3:45PM to 4:45PM.

DENMAN LIBRARY’S SESSION

Denman Library’s Lego Club is held on the second Monday of each month.
Wednesday, August 14 from 3:30PM to 4:30PM.

Suitable for ages 6 – 12 years.
Children under the age of 13 must be supervised by an adult at all times.

EMERGENCY SERVICES AWARENESS PROGRAM

Join us for special Story Time session with  Local Paramedic Sean from NSW Ambulance Service Muswellbrook Station as part of our Emergency Services Awareness Program.

CIRCLE TIME AT MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY 

Join us at Muswellbrook Library for an interactive Circle Time sessions. Read some books, do activities, learn some new songs and let’s move to the beat! Suitable for ages 0-6 years.

Circle Time sessions will be fortnightly on Tuesdays. Sessions this month will be held on Tuesdays, August 13 and 27 from 10am.

WHAT’S ON FOR ADULTS

COMBINED CARE INFORMATION SESSION

Navigating the complexities of care can be challenging, but you’re not alone.

Join us at our upcoming combined information sessions with Carers NSW, Wesley Care Finder, Seniors Rights Service at Muswellbrook Library.

When: 10am-11am, Wednesday 7th August.
Where: Muswellbrook Library

OUR SERVICES

HOME LIBRARY SERVICE

Did you know we run a free home library service to housebound members of the Muswellbrook and Denman Communities? We can pick for you, or you can use our online catalogue to make a selection of books, DVDs, CDs and Audio books that pique your interest. We also have audio readers available for members with low to no vision.

Deliveries will be made on August 6th and 20th.

Our FREE Click and Collect services are now available at Muswellbrook and Denman Branches to eligible library members. Reserve things you are interested in or let us make selections for you.

These BYO device sessions are designed to help you get started on library digital collections, learn how to use your device and general tech assistance.

These sessions can be booked one-on-one for a maximum of half an hour.
