Welcome to the Muswellbrook Shire Libraries eNewsletter – the best way to stay up to date with all the news and events from the Muswellbrook and Denman Branches. Don’t forget to follow us on our Instagram or Facebook for ongoing news and events.

This month Muswellbrook and Denman Libraries have a range of activities for all ages, including celebrating Harmony Week, Seniors Festival and more! Be sure to check out what’s on below and contact your local branch for more information.

Library Closures
Thursday March 6, 2025

Our Muswellbrook and Denman Branches will be closed on Thursday March 6, due to staff training.

Muswellbrook and Denman Libraries will reopen on Friday March 7th, from 10am.

Both branch’s returns chute will be available during this time for any returns.

Our digital library is available 24/7, for more information follow the link.

Harmony Week 
March 17 – March 23

Harmony Week celebrates inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

To celebrate MultiConnect Muswellbrook will be hosting a range of activities at Muswellbrook Library on Monday, March 24th.

Multi-Cultural Story Time& Craft Activities

Preschool Story Time 10am
Primary School Story Time 11am
Group bookings are essential.

Joyse speaking on her recent trip to Ecuador.

Concluding with a delicious lunch provided by Multiconnect

HARMONY EXHIBIT
MULTICONNECT GROUP

Muswellbrook Library
Throughout March

During March the Muswellbrook MultiConnect group will be sharing a variety of items from their members at the Muswellbrook Library.
This exhibit will feature collected items from around the world highlighting the Harmony Week theme, ‘Everyone Belongs’.


 

What’s on for Children

STORY TIME AND BABY RHYME TIME

Join us weekly at our story time and rhyme sessions filled with stories, song and creativity.

MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY’S SESSIONS

Baby Rhyme Time: Monday mornings at 10:00AM – 10:45AM

Story Time and Craft: Thursday mornings at 10:00AM – 11:00AM

DENMAN LIBRARY’S SESSIONS

Rhyme Time sessions will run weekly on Mondays from 10:00AM.

LEGO CLUB

Join in on Lego building challenges that will make you think outside the box and push your building skills to the limit. Bookings are essential.

MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY’S SESSIONS

Muswellbrook Library’s Lego Club is held on the first and third Mondays of each month.Monday, March 3 and 17 from 3:45PM to 4:45PM.

DENMAN LIBRARY’S SESSION

Denman Library’s Lego Club is held on the third Tuesday of each month.Tuesday, March 18 from 3:30PM to 4:30PM.

Suitable for ages 6 – 12 years.
Children under the age of 13 must be supervised by an adult at all times.

CIRCLE TIME AT MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY 

Join us at Muswellbrook Library for an interactive Circle Time session, that will be filled with movement, music and craft! Suitable for ages 0-6 years.

Circle Time sessions will be fortnightly on Tuesdays. Sessions this month will be held on Tuesdays, March 11 and 25 from 10AM.

CREATIVITY CLUB AT DENMAN LIBRARY

Come along to Denman Library for a social and interactive session where you will create and collaborate on arts and crafts projects. 

Bookings are recommended for preparation of supplies.

 Mondays March 3 and 17 at 3:20PM to 4:00PM

Suitable for ages 5-12 years. Siblings are welcome.


What’s on for Adults

ART & SIP AT THE LIBRARY

Relax and unwind this Seniors Festival at our Art & Sip event at the Library. Perfect for all skill levels, this interactive session led by Ashlee from, Creative Fusion Studio, will have you painting away while sipping delightful mocktails in great company!

Muswellbrook Library: Wednesday March 5th from 10:30am to 12:30pm

Denman Library: Tuesday March 11th from 10:30am to 12:30pm

Open to ages 55+. Bookings essential. 

A light lunch will be included.
Please identify any dietary requirements upon booking.

BEN’S BOOK CLUB

Join Ben Hobson in conversation with author Maryrose Cuskelly to discuss her newest novel, ‘The Campers’, an engrossing and provocative exploration of privilege, hypocrisy and justice.

This month’s session will be held on Tuesday March 25th, at 7:30PM AEDT

Our Services

HOME LIBRARY SERVICE

Did you know we run a free home library service to housebound members of the Muswellbrook and Denman Communities? We can pick for you, or you can use our online catalogue to make a selection of books, DVDs, CDs and Audio books that pique your interest. We also have audio readers available for members with low to no vision.

Deliveries will be made on March 4th and 18th.

Our FREE Click and Collect services are now available at Muswellbrook and Denman Branches to eligible library members. Reserve things you are interested in or let us make selections for you.

These BYO device sessions are designed to help you get started on library digital collections, learn how to use your device and general tech assistance.

These sessions can be booked one-on-one for a maximum of half an hour.
