National Simultaneous StorytimeNational Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. The National Simultaneous Storytime book for 2025 is The Truck Cat written by Deborah Frenkel, illustrated by Danny Snell and published by Hardie Grant Children’s Publishing. Muswellbrook Library will be hosting a special Story Time session on Wednesday, May 21st. Please arrive from 10:45am for an 11am start. Group bookings are essential. Contact Muswellbrook Library on 6543-1913. This inclusive activity is open for children ages 0-5 years. Throughout May the Muswellbrook Shire Local and Family History Society are displaying a variety of photos to celebrate the history of Muswellbrook.
This collection of images includes civic buildings, hotels, commercial buildings, churches and historic properties in the Muswellbrook Shire.

What’s on for Children
STORY TIME AND BABY RHYME TIME
Join us weekly at our story time and rhyme sessions filled with stories, song and creativity.
MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY’S SESSIONS
Baby Rhyme Time: Monday mornings at 10:00AM – 10:45AM
Story Time and Craft: Thursday mornings at 10:00AM – 11:00AM
DENMAN LIBRARY’S SESSIONS
Rhyme Time sessions will run weekly on Mondays from 10:00AM.

LEGO CLUB
Join in on Lego building challenges that will make you think outside the box and push your building skills to the limit. Bookings are essential.
MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY’S SESSIONS
Muswellbrook Library’s Lego Club is held on the first and third Mondays of each month.
Mondays, May 5 and 19 from 3:45PM to 4:45PM.
DENMAN LIBRARY’S SESSION
Denman Library’s Lego Club is held on the third Tuesday of each month.Tuesday, May 20 from 3:20PM to 4:20PM.

Suitable for ages 6 – 12 years.
Children under the age of 13 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
CIRCLE TIME AT MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY
Join us at Muswellbrook Library for an interactive Circle Time session, that will be filled with movement, music and craft! Suitable for ages 0-6 years.
Circle Time sessions will be fortnightly on Tuesdays. Sessions this month will be held on Tuesdays, May 6 and 20 from 10AM.
CREATIVITY CLUB AT DENMAN LIBRARY
Come along to Denman Library for a social and interactive session where you will create and collaborate on arts and crafts projects.
Bookings are recommended for preparation of supplies.
Mondays May 5 and 19 at 3:20PM to 4:00PM
Suitable for ages 5-12 years. Siblings are welcome.
CODING CLUB AT DENMAN LIBRARY
Learn how to code using a range of technology in these interactive monthly sessions at Denman Library.
Bookings essential.
Sessions will be held monthly on the second Monday of each month.
Sessions will commence on Monday May 12 at 3:20PM to 4:20PM
Suitable for ages 5-12 years. Siblings are welcome.

What’s on for Adults
BEN’S BOOK CLUB
Join Ben Hobson in conversation with author Riley James to discuss her debut novel, ‘The Chilling’, a compelling winter thriller filled with icy twists.
This month’s session will be held on Tuesday, May 27th, at 7:30PM AEST
BOOK CLUB AT THE LIBRARY
Joining a book club can be a fun and interesting way to meet people as well as indulging your love of reading.

Join the Upper Hunter Writers Collective at the Muswellbrook Library each month for motivation, support and feedback from others who have a passion for writing.

HOME LIBRARY SERVICE
Did you know we run a free home library service to housebound members of the Muswellbrook and Denman Communities? We can pick for you, or you can use our online catalogue to make a selection of books, DVDs, CDs and Audio books that pique your interest. We also have audio readers available for members with low to no vision.
Deliveries will be made on May 13th and 27th.

Our FREE Click and Collect services are now available at Muswellbrook and Denman Branches to eligible library members. Reserve things you are interested in or let us make selections for you.

These BYO device sessions are designed to help you get started on library digital collections, learn how to use your device and general tech assistance.
These sessions can be booked one-on-one for a maximum of half an hour.
