November 2025Welcome to the Muswellbrook Shire Libraries eNewsletter – the best way to stay up to date with all the news and events from the Muswellbrook and Denman Branches. This month Muswellbrook and Denman Libraries have a range of activities for all ages, including special Story Time sessions with MultiConnect, an exhibition from Shire Local Terry Gill and our new Learn and Laugh Social Club! Library Closure Notice
Friday November 4 from 12pm
Muswellbrook and Denman Libraries will be closed from 12pm on Tuesday November 4 due to the Mayor’s Cup Race Day.
Muswellbrook Library will reopen on Wednesday November 5 from 10am.
Denman Library will reopen on Thursday November 6 from 10:30am.
Both branch’s returns chute will be available during this time for any returns.

Exhibitions
Military Memorabilia Collection by Terry Gill
On exhibit until December at the Muswellbrook Library.
We are very privileged at the Muswellbrook Library to have on display an amazing exhibition of military memorabilia courtesy of a Shire local, Terry Gill. Terry has been sharing this collection with the community for over 10 years at our Library.
This vast collection covers many conflicts. Leading up to Remembrance Day it is wonderful to be able to showcase these items in remembering our veterans. Be sure to take the time to come and have a look.
What’s on for Children
STORY TIME AND BABY RHYME TIME
Join us weekly at our story time and rhyme sessions filled with stories, song and creativity.
MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY’S SESSIONS
Baby Rhyme Time: Monday mornings at 10:00AM – 10:45AM
Story Time and Craft: Thursday mornings at 10:00AM – 11:00AM
DENMAN LIBRARY’S SESSIONS
Rhyme Time sessions will run weekly on Mondays from 10:00AM.

LEGO CLUB
Join in on Lego building challenges that will make you think outside the box and push your building skills to the limit. Bookings are essential.
MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY’S SESSIONS
Muswellbrook Library’s Lego Club is held on the first and third Mondays of each month.Monday, November 3 from 3:45PM to 4:45PM.
Monday, November 17, free play Lego will be available.
DENMAN LIBRARY’S SESSION
Denman Library’s Lego Club is held on the third Tuesday of each month.Tuesday, November 18 from 3:20PM to 4:20PM.
Contact your local branch for more information.
Suitable for ages 6 – 12 years.
Children under the age of 13 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
CIRCLE TIME AT MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY
Join us at Muswellbrook Library for an interactive Circle Time session, that will be filled with movement, music and craft! Suitable for ages 0-6 years.
Circle Time sessions will be fortnightly on Tuesdays. Sessions this month will be held on Tuesdays, November 5 and 19 from 10am.
MULTICONNECT READING TIME AT MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY
This November, Muswellbrook Library is thrilled to welcome Muswellbrook MultiConnect for a special series of Story Time sessions featuring stories, songs, and crafts from different cultures!
This sessions will be held during Story Time on Thursdays.

UPPER HUNTER CASUAL CROCHET CREW AT MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY
Come along and share your skills, ideas and crochet tips and tricks and in a social setting over a cuppa each fortnight at Muswellbrook Library.
UPPER HUNTER WRITERS COLLECTIVE MEETING
Join the Upper Hunter Writers Collective at the Muswellbrook Library each month for motivation, support and feedback from others who have a passion for writing.

CHILDREN’S EARLY READING PROGRAMS
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library
Thanks to the generous support of our funding partner, AGL, eligible families can now access this program at no cost. This program delivers a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book each month to children from birth until their fifth birthday — helping to build early literacy skills and a lifelong love of reading. Children born on or after July 1, 2025, are eligible to register!

Rising Readers: 1000 Books Before School
Reading helps build social and emotional skills, sparks creativity and imagination, promotes bonding, and helps kids do well overall in school. This reading program is open for children ages 0-5 years and aims to add reading to your daily routines!!

HOME LIBRARY SERVICE
Did you know we run a free home library service to housebound members of the Muswellbrook and Denman Communities? We can pick for you, or you can use our online catalogue to make a selection of books, DVDs, CDs and Audio books that pique your interest. We also have audio readers available for members with low to no vision.
Deliveries will be made on November 11th and 25th.

Our FREE Click and Collect services are now available at Muswellbrook and Denman Branches to eligible library members. Reserve things you are interested in or let us make selections for you.

These BYO device sessions are designed to help you get started on library digital collections, learn how to use your device and general tech assistance.
These sessions can be booked one-on-one for a maximum of half an hour.
