Curiosity Kits

Muswellbrook Shire Library and the STEM Innovation Lab are joining forces to launch a new collection of Curiosity Kits – hands-on kits designed to spark imaginations and bring fun to science through experimentation and exploration. Our new kit collection is now available to loan FREE from Muswellbrook Library. 

What’s in the kits?

The Muswellbrook Shire Curiosity Kit collection currently has 5 different kit sets available for loan:

• Ozobot Bit+ is a tiny but powerful smart robot that engages kids in STEM, coding and computer science learning through a collection of game based activities, digital apps and coding challenges. For ages 6+
• Blue Bot  is an engaging floor robot which is ideal for teaching control and coding in primary schools. The big brother to Bee-Bot, Blue-Bot is blue-tooth enabled which means it can be coded remotely. For ages 6+
• Backyard Explorer is a discovery kit designed to get outdoors and explore! This kit comes with a collection tools, display trays and a pocket microscope to examine your finds! Suitable for ages 5+
• Snap Circuits learn about electronics with award winning Snap Circuits! Just follow the colourful pictures in the concise manual, and build over 300 exciting projects. Included are more than 60 parts mounted on plastic modules that snap together with ease on the grid. Build a radio, burglar alarm, doorbell, lie detector, finger touch lamp and much more! You can even play electronic games with your friends.  For ages 10 +
• Edison Robots are small robots designed to introduce early coding activities for students aged 8+. Edison bots can be coded using the included coding barcodes or connected into an app (not supplied) and coded using multiple coding languages.

Each kit requiring batteries will be loaned with one set of batteries. Please note that adult supervision is recommended for the use of all kits – some kits contain small parts and batteries which may be choking hazards.

Borrowing Kits

All Curiosity Kits are available to loan to Muswellbrook Shire Libraries members free of charge. Eligible library members may loan 1 kit at a time for a period of 2 weeks. Single kits or a set of kits for group usage may be reserved by contacting the Muswellbrook Library on 6543-1913. Junior Library members require guarantor approval prior to loaning kits.
