Join us for another fabulous author talk with Fiona McArthur!

On Saturday 26 September at 10:30am, join us at Muswellbrook Library as Fiona returns to share her latest book The Featherwood Beekeeper!

Set against the rural backdrop of a NSW community still finding its feet after the last two years of flood and fire, The Featherwood Beekeeper is a story about second chances at love, found family and the courage it takes to let people in. Drawing from her earlier life as a rural midwife, Fiona McArthur shares her love of working with women, families and health professionals in her books.

Copies of the book will be available to purchase prior to the event or during the event.

Celebrate Spring with a Story Time that could save a life!

This Spring, Muswellbrook Shire Libraries are proud to be part of the Kids Alive Spring Safe Storytime Campaign, in partnership with ALIA and the Kids Alive team.

We’re inviting families with children under five to join us on Thursday 17 September from 10am at Muswellbrook Library for a special spring event—an interactive experience combining stories, music, dancing and sensory activities that teach children how to stay safe around water.

This inclusive activity is open for children ages 0-5. Please contact our Muswellbrook Branch if you would like to discuss any supports for your family prior to attending. All children under the age of 13 must be supervised by a parent or carer at all times.

Lego Club is Back!

Lego Club is returning this September! Join the fun and challenge your Lego skills!

This month, Lego Club sessions will be held on Monday, 7 and 21 September from 3:45PM at Muswellbrook Library.

Suitable for ages 6 – 12 years.

Bookings are essential.

Exhibitions

Santa Gertrudis Cattle by Ted George
Currently On Exhibit at Muswellbrook Library.

This exhibit showcases a unique collection focused on Santa Gertrudis cattle will be on display until October.

The display includes historic photographs, sales brochures, and detailed breed information, all drawn from Ted’s long-standing interest and knowledge of the breed. 

As Time Goes By…

The Muswellbrook Local & Family History Society presents this nostalgic collection of objects, from Kodak and Agfa box cameras to typewriters and a butter churner!

The majority of these items’ functions can now be done on a mobile phone… how time flies! Not the butter churner, though maybe there’s an app for that… Spark fond memories and explore these nostalgic wonders at Muswellbrook Library.

HSC LOCK IN AND STUDY SPACE

Study in dedicated quiet zones, de-stress with games and fuel up with snacks in our Study Space at Muswellbrook Library from Monday 28th September to Friday 9th October.

The Study Space is open to all Year 11 and 12 students from our local schools.

HSC Students can also join wellbeing sessions with Satori Space on Wednesday 30th September and Wednesday 7th October from 12PM. Bookings are essential for wellbeing sessions. Please contact Muswellbrook Library on 6543 1913 to reserve your spot.

CHILDREN’S EARLY READING PROGRAMS 

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library
Thanks to the generous support of our funding partner, AGL, eligible families can now access this program at no cost. This program delivers a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book each month to children from birth until their fifth birthday — helping to build early literacy skills and a lifelong love of reading. Children born on or after July 1, 2025, are eligible to register!

Reading helps build social and emotional skills, sparks creativity and imagination, promotes bonding, and helps kids do well overall in school. This reading program is open for children ages 0-5 years and aims to add reading to your daily routines!!

Did you know we run a free home library service to housebound members of the Muswellbrook and Denman Communities?
