The Two Teabags are coming to Muswellbrook Library!
On Thursday 6 August at 10am, join Marj, a cleaner (and former country Showgirl), and Shirl, a tea lady ever so slightly rough around the edges but with a heart of gold, for a morning of music, games and hilarity!
All this takes place as everyone enjoys a well-earned “smoko” following a grueling morning of tidying up after a party – with some outrageous discoveries revealed! The 45-minute show is followed by a relaxed meet and greet with the performers, giving attendees the chance to browse their collection of memorabilia – bound to spark conversation and stories of lives well lived.
This fabulous event is FREE with a light luncheon to follow. Bookings are essential. Please contact Muswellbrook Library on 6543 1913 to reserve your spot! Group bookings are available.
Exhibitions
Santa Gertrudis Cattle by Ted George
Currently On Exhibit at Muswellbrook Library.
This exhibit showcases a unique collection focused on Santa Gertrudis cattle will be on display until October.
The display includes historic photographs, sales brochures, and detailed breed information, all drawn from Ted’s long-standing interest and knowledge of the breed.
As Time Goes By…
Currently On Exhibit at Muswellbrook Library.
The Muswellbrook Local & Family History Society presents this nostalgic collection of objects, from Kodak and Agfa box cameras to typewriters and a butter churner!
The majority of these items’ functions can now be done on a mobile phone… how time flies! Not the butter churner, though maybe there’s an app for that… Spark fond memories and explore these nostalgic wonders at Muswellbrook Library.
What’s on for Children
NATIONAL ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER CHILDREN’S DAY
On Tuesday 4 August, we celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day – honouring the incredible strengths, stories, and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children across the country.
Come along to our extra special Storytime and Craft at Muswellbrook Library, Tuesday 4 August at 10am!
Suitable for ages 3-5 years.
Younger siblings are also welcome!

BOOK WEEK EVENTS
Join the Library team at Muswellbrook & Denman Library branches for a symphony of stories during book week from Saturday, 22nd August to Friday 28th August. All children (and parents) are invited to come dressed as your favourite book characters and join our book week parades!

What’s on for Adults
LIBBY READS WITH BEN HOBSON
Join Ben Hobson in conversation with author Emma Viskic as they discuss Emma’s gripping, original and fast-paced crime thriller, ‘Resurrection Bay’.
This month’s session will be held on Tuesday, 25th August, at 7:30PM AEST.
BOOK CLUB AT THE LIBRARY
Joining a book club can be a fun and interesting way to meet people as well as indulging your love of reading.

Looking for a fun way to connect, share, and pick up new skills? Join our welcoming library group where community members take turns teaching and learning together.
From knitting and card games to cooking tips, crafts, music, or storytelling – there’s always something new to try (and a friendly face to share it with).

UPPER HUNTER CASUAL CROCHET CREW AT MUSWELLBROOK LIBRARY
Come along and share your skills, ideas and crochet tips and tricks and in a social setting over a cuppa each fortnight on Wednesdays from 10AM at Muswellbrook Library.
UPPER HUNTER WRITERS COLLECTIVE MEETING
Join the Upper Hunter Writers Collective at the Muswellbrook Library each month for motivation, support and feedback from others who have a passion for writing.

CHILDREN’S EARLY READING PROGRAMS
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library
Thanks to the generous support of our funding partner, AGL, eligible families can now access this program at no cost. This program delivers a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book each month to children from birth until their fifth birthday — helping to build early literacy skills and a lifelong love of reading. Children born on or after July 1, 2025, are eligible to register!

Rising Readers: 1000 Books Before School
Reading helps build social and emotional skills, sparks creativity and imagination, promotes bonding, and helps kids do well overall in school. This reading program is open for children ages 0-5 years and aims to add reading to your daily routines!!

HOME LIBRARY SERVICE
Did you know we run a free home library service to housebound members of the Muswellbrook and Denman Communities? We can pick for you, or you can use our online catalogue to make a selection of books, DVDs, CDs and Audio books that pique your interest. We also have audio readers available for members with low to no vision.
